Artist's Statement of Selected Work Shown:

All of my art is focused upon the human figure. The breath and scope of my imagery sets out to capture moments from birth to death.  (I drew both my parents on their deathbeds and my premature son from the incubator to health.)  I think of myself as a “life-artist”.  Looking back at decades of my pictures, I am grateful for those encounters that “freeze framed” special moments otherwise lost to the passing of time. Drawing, demanding intense observation, informs all my art. After my initial trip to China five years ago, I employed Kuan one day a week for almost a year and completed fourteen works. This pastel is Kuan with Water in Wine Glass, Face of China Series, #1.
